Welcome to Time Machine Videos. Your privacy is a priority for us. This document outlines how our application functions and how we interact with data via the YouTube API Services.
"Random Month Travel Surprise Me Button" (New Surprise Feature):
This advanced discovery tool offers two specialized modes of temporal exploration:
1. Random Era Jump: Selects a random month and year between 2010 to 2024. It performs a request to the YouTube Data API v3 to identify the top 20-40 most-viewed videos from that specific period. To comply with YouTube's data freshness policies, results for these queries are temporarily cached on our server for 30 days. This optimizes performance and reduces API quota usage. After 30 days, the cache for that specific month is automatically deleted and refreshed upon the next request.
2. Classic Viral Videos (Hall of Fame) (JavaScript Curated): An instant-access mode that bypasses server requests to load a hand-picked selection of legendary viral videos. This curated list is managed directly via the Unified Engine's JavaScript, ensuring zero latency and immediate playback of the most iconic moments in internet history, regardless of API availability or server cache.
Time Travel Search: When you perform a manual search using keywords and a specific date, results are fetched in real-time directly through the YouTube API. We do not store or cache these specific manual search queries, ensuring that every direct search reflects the current state of YouTube's public index.
Calendar Browse: Our historical calendar allows users to discover content by specific dates. To ensure accuracy, our synchronization system verifies video availability every 30 days. Metadata (titles and IDs) is temporarily stored to enhance service speed, and any video found to be deleted, private, or restricted is automatically removed from our index during these periodic checks.
